Vlokkie Gordon, CEO of ADVANTAGE ENTERTAINMENT, has a career spanning over 30 years in the entertainment industry, with more than 45 major motion picture and television producing credits to her name. Vlokkie is one of South Africa’s most accomplished Line Producers and highly sought after supervising producer/co-producer of international and South African productions, and has built up a strong team of South Africa’s most skilled technical crew and production personnel.
Vlokkie just completed a feature film for Netflix/MPCA scheduled to be released Christmas 2019. Christmas in the Wild deals in a fun way with the very important subject of nature conservation and orphaned elephants.
In 2017 she was the SA Producer on a Pure Flix film, their 1st feature film to be shot outside of the USA: the biblical epic Samson The Movie.
In 2016 she was integral in securing the Tomb Raider reboot, produced by MGM and Graham King to be shot in South Africa. The same year she secured the German children’s novel Jim Button & Luke the Engine Driver – produced by Rat Pack and Warner Bros.
In 2015 she was contracted by ABC to produce ABC/Disney Television Series Of Kings and Prophets – based on the life of David, Saul, and Samuel of the Old Testament shot entirely in South Africa. Earlier that year she also produced a 26 part children’s series for multi-award winning company Kindle Entertainment for CBBC/BBC.
Previously, as co-owner of Film Afrika (circa 1995 – 2014) Vlokkie was instrumental in securing and producing the first season of the highly acclaimed Black Sails for STARZ, as well as the 2-part Mini-Series Labyrinth (Film Afrika/Tandem Communications/Scott Free), Gettysburg (Film Afrika/Tandem Communications for Hertzog, Scott Free AETN-History Channel), Natale Sud Africa (Filmauro Productions), Treasure Guards (Film Afrika/Tandem Communications), Getting Out Alive (Raw TV for Discovery Channel), the 8-part Series Outcasts (Film Afrika/Apollo/Kudos/BBC).
As Line Producer at Film Afrika, Vlokkie supervised production on Academy Award ® winner Anthony Minghella’s The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency – shot on location in Botswana (Weinstein CO/Mirage) – as well as: Sniper: Reloaded (Film Afrika/Apollo/Sony Pictures Entertainment), The Lost Future starring Sean Bean, America: The Story of Us (History Channel/Nutopia), The Lost Boys 3, directed by Dario Piano with Corey Feldman, for Warner Brothers Premiere, Free Willy 4 directed by Will Geiger with Beau Bridges for Warner Brothers Premiere, End Game, directed by Peter Travis with William Hurt and Chiowetel Ejiofor for Channel 4/Daybreak Pictures, Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian (Universal/Apollo directed by Russell Mulcahy), and Starship Troopers Marauder (Sony/Bold Films/Apollo).
Her more recent international feature film project as Line Producer was the Academy Award® winning (2014 Best Original Song, by Bono) Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Produced by Anant Singh of Videovision Entertainment, starring Golden Globe® and BAFTA Winner, Idris Elba, and Naomie Harris.
Other motion picture projects Vlokkie has supervised include 20th Century Fox’s runaway box-office hit Chronicle, Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left and The Breed with Michelle Rodriguez, for Craven/Maddalena/Apollo, and Carroll Ballard’s motion picture, Duma a.k.a. Shadow, for Warner Bros, Gaylord Films, and John Wells also Primeval for Touchstone/Disney. Disney’s Primeval with Dominic Purcell, Piano Player, for Splendide, Promised Land, Styx for HBO/Promark Entertainment, Wilbur Smith’s Diamond Hunters, Second Skin (Le Monde/Alliance Atlantis/Fiction Film & TV), and Hallmark Entertainment’s Only Love, directed by John Erman.
As an independent producer she’s produced 4 foreign language films with various producing partners.
